What should a followup contain? Good question... My personally experience suggests directing your subscribers to a full article located on the web. There are some good reasons for this. Your subscriber might not be interested in one article but they may find what they are looking for browsing through your previous articles.

When I say traffic, I don’t just mean any old traffic, Imean targeted traffic, people who are motivated and ready to buy can and willmake you money. You can use programs and techniques such as Google Adwords,bloging, article writing and linking to drive targeted traffic to your website. GoogleAdwords is a resource offered by Google in which you can payfor your site to be show when certain keywords are queried in their searchengine. 

The secret to using Adwords is not to bid high on popular keywords. Instead,what you do is find similar keywords that still describe your website, but are usedmuch less frequent. These keywords will cost much less to bid on and will allowyou to spread your money out over many different keywords, getting the most bangfor your buck.

I personally have hundreds of gigabytes of my own information and information of others, connected to my notebook. In the final analysis, it's doing me no good what-so-ever just sitting there. If you spice up your feed with too much sales and marketing related or self promotional stuff, people can and will easily drop their subscription to your feed. They are calling him the million dollar man. Jason Calacanis recently revealed in his blog that he is on track to earn a million dollars from AdSense over the year ahead.

And if that number doesn’t wake you up and have you sitting on the edge of your seat, consider for a moment that he reached this level in less than a year. His company only started using AdSense in September 2004.

Markus, what is your experience in computer programming and how did it prepare you for becoming a webmaster?

The average pageviews a day is around 14 million for the last week. I'm getting another 80 million pageviews a day from users polling the site to see if they have new messages. Really intensive bandwidth wise!

When I go to your website, I notice that the ads are targeted to my region, yet I have not even registered- can you explain to our readers how you accomplish this feat?

I'm just using ip2location.com- Basically i take your IP, look it up in the database and it tells me what your city is. I then bring up a list of users in your city, nothing magical about it at all.

Are most of your visitors coming primarily from search engines (SERPS), or are you finding that they come from other avenues? Do you actively advertise in the media?

Search engines account for something like 2% of my traffic. The vast majority of my traffic, like any other site with over 5 million pageviews a day comes from word of mouth, and repeat visitors.


The services on your site seem to be offered at no cost to the registrants. Is there some advantage you have over your competitors that allows you to do this?

I've developed new algorithms that allow me to create a mega site for next to no cost. Several years ago I created algorithm that was thousands of times faster then the algorithm used in the 1990's to find a string of 22 prime numbers. At the time a professor used several super computers and hundreds of regular computers over the course of several years to find a record. I did the same thing on 1 computer in 2 weeks.

Fascinating! Are there any other sites you currently maintain, or is plentyoffish.com the only one?

Its the only site at the moment. I've got a few other sites I registered for friends so they could learn to do marketing/affiliate stuff. At this point i think 1 site is enough.

Any tips for those looking to create a profitable endeavor on the internet?

IF someone else thinks what you are doing is a cool idea I'd say it isn't... Find something no one else thinks is important and build up a site with big traffic in that area. Also keep in mind, sites that have low monetization today but have traffic may be the gold mines of tomorrow. In the internet world anything and everything will be monetized at some point and traffic is king.

Traffic is King- very wise advice, Markus. One last question- How do you find the time to maintain such a large commodity on the internet? Surely you must have some other interests in life besides programming and website monitoring?

It only takes a hour a day on average, but its very tiring work. I spend the other couple of hours reading and seeing what is going on.

Blogs are truly the essence of the internet, they provide an automatic audience for what ever you would like to share with the world, it's like an electronic soap box.   As the technology advances, I can't imagine what blogs will be like in 20 years. You can create a blog with pictures, movies,audio and obviously the written word, which still is the most powerful.

It is truly amazing how far the internet has come, and yet we are just getting started. Just think, there was a point in time, not that long ago I might add, that it was widely believed that no one would need a computer in their house.  Now some people take them with them where ever they go.
When you create a blog, you are creating a time capsule of what ever you want and letting the world see it as it is being created.  The first thing that you should do is read as many  blogs as you can  before you create a blog.  This way you can see the different  ways people express themselves to give you ideas on how far you want to go..

Another incredible thing about blogs, is that you don't have to learn how to speak another
language to create a blog.   You can have a blog up and running in about 5 minutes at no cost.
It only make sense that google would jump both feet into the blog world, if they didn't invent it, they sure helped make it what it is today.  Blogger, which is run by google, has made it as easy as they possibly could to create a blog, in just under 10 clicks of a mouse you can be telling your story to the world.

Who would have ever thought that you could get paid for writing about the events of your life? When you create a blog, companies are more than happy to pay you a commission for customers that you send to their web site.  Once again, google has made that process very simple.  With goggle adSense, you agree to put advertisements on your blog, and when someone clicks on that advertisement you earn a commission.  Depending on how many visitors you get to your blog, you can earn a good amount of money for basically doing nothing..


One word of advice, well maybe two words of advice are, DO IT.  You might think that you can't write, but I can tell you once you get started it will come easy to you.  Don't worry about spelling or grammar, just get started.  The world is waiting to here your story about how you feel about world affairs or affairs of your world.

BLOGS! What a crazy name for the "NEWEST" Internet marketing trend to hit the Internet.

But, I like it.

It makes this new form of communication kind of mysterious in a way, though, BLOGS have been around for quite some time and only recently have been recognized as a VERY valuable asset to Internet marketers.

Recently, I was visiting some Internet marketing related Forums and noticed many of the threads having similar "Subjects" saying... "What the heck are BLOGS?"

So, I did a little research and this is what I came up with since I was Very curious myself.

I think it's best that I clearly define to You exactly what a "BLOG" is so that as I go through this article with you, you'll have a clear picture in your head of what a Blog IS and so there won't be any confusion.

A "BLOG"(A.K.A. Web Log) by definition is:

A combination of online diary and/or guestbook. You sign up for a blogger account and then you enter the information You want on your Website. Then you can set it so that only you can place entries on it or so that anyone can. Then you can either keep a private journal or you can have a place where your readers can get together and place entries to each other or to you.

So... there you have it in a nut shell.

To simplify it even more let's just say BLOGS are a place to go and post your personal thoughts that you can share with your subscribers and/or readership and receive feedback.
